Agreement to terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Netsum ("the Service"). By accessing or using Netsum, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you may not access the Service.

Account creation and security

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Netsum. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement and that all information you provide is accurate and complete.

Account security

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password
• You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access or security breach
• We are not liable for any loss or damage from your failure to maintain account security

One account per person

You may only create one account. Creating multiple accounts may result in suspension of all accounts.

Acceptable use

You agree to use Netsum only for lawful purposes. You may not:

• ❌ Use the Service for any illegal activity or to violate any laws
• ❌ Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
• ❌ Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
• ❌ Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without permission
• ❌ Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
• ❌ Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
• ❌ Impersonate another person or entity
• ❌ Use the Service to track finances for money laundering or other criminal activity

Your data and content

Ownership

You retain full ownership of all financial data, notes, and content you enter into Netsum ("Your Data"). We claim no ownership rights over Your Data.

License to operate the service

You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display Your Data solely for the purpose of providing the Netsum service to you. This license ends when you delete Your Data or close your account.

Your responsibilities

• You are solely responsible for the accuracy of data you enter
• You are responsible for maintaining backups of Your Data (use our export feature)
• We are not liable for any financial decisions you make based on data in Netsum
• Netsum is a tracking tool, not financial advice

Data portability and deletion

You can export Your Data as CSV files at any time. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from your account settings. See our Privacy Policy for details on data retention.

Service availability and modifications

Availability

We strive to maintain 99.9% uptime, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or factors beyond our control.

Modifications

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice for significant changes that negatively impact your use of the Service.

Beta features

We may release features in beta. Beta features are provided "as is" and may be unstable, incomplete, or later removed.

Pricing and payment

Free tier

Netsum is currently free to use during early access. We reserve the right to introduce paid tiers in the future.

Future pricing (if applicable)

If we introduce paid subscriptions:

• Early users will receive advance notice of at least 60 days
• Early users may be eligible for lifetime discounts or grandfathered pricing
• You can export your data and cancel at any time before billing begins
• All pricing changes will be communicated clearly via email

Refunds

If we introduce paid plans, we will offer pro-rata refunds for unused subscription time if you cancel within 30 days of payment.

Intellectual property

Netsum, including its design, code, features, and branding, is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without explicit written permission.

Exception: You may take screenshots of your own dashboard for personal use.

Third-party services

Netsum may integrate with third-party services (e.g., OAuth providers for login). Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

Disclaimers and limitations of liability

No financial advice

Netsum is a tool for tracking your assets and liabilities. It is not financial advice. We are not financial advisors. You are solely responsible for your financial decisions.

Accuracy of data

Netsum relies on data you manually enter. We do not verify the accuracy of your data. Calculations (net worth, changes over time) are based on the data you provide. Errors in your data will result in incorrect calculations.

"As is" service

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Netsum shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from:

• Your use or inability to use the Service
• Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
• Any financial decisions made based on data in Netsum
• Errors, bugs, or inaccuracies in the Service

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the event giving rise to liability (currently £0 during free early access).

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Netsum from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any rights of another party
• Your violation of any applicable laws

Termination

By you

You may close your account at any time from your account settings. All Your Data will be permanently deleted within 30 days (see our Privacy Policy).

By us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

• Violate these Terms
• Engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
• Abuse the Service or harm other users
• Fail to pay fees (if applicable in the future)

We will provide reasonable notice before termination unless immediate action is required for legal or security reasons.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Netsum will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Before initiating legal action, we encourage you to contact us at support@netsum.app to resolve disputes informally.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of Netsum after changes constitute acceptance of the updated Terms.

If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you may close your account and export your data before the changes take effect.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

Entire agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement regarding Netsum and supersede all prior agreements.
