Why we built this
Most finance apps want to connect to your bank, scan your transactions, and build a profile of your spending habits. That's their business model. Ours is different.
Netsum is for people who just want to see their net worth in one place. No bank logins, no transaction analysis, no ads. You enter your numbers, we show you the picture. That's it.
How it started
For years I tracked my finances in a Google Sheet. ISAs, pension, savings, property equity, all in one sprawling document. It worked, mostly, until I broke a formula or forgot which cell linked to what.
I tried the apps everyone recommends. They all wanted full access to my bank accounts. One wanted to analyse my spending habits. Another wanted to "nudge" me into better behaviour. I just wanted to know my net worth. That's all.
After reading about yet another data breach at a finance startup, I decided to build my own tool. Something simple. Enter your account balances, see a chart, track your progress over time. No bank connections required.
I built it for the UK first because that's what I know. ISAs, SIPPs, pensions, property in pounds. But the basic idea works anywhere: you shouldn't need to share your bank login to see your net worth.
Netsum is the tool I wanted but couldn't find.
